If you’ve rented the “Picasso” apartment in the Marais, then you just happen to be the luckiest person in the world. I want to be you. We all want to be you. What is it about a carriage door entrance that announces, “You’re here, this is Paris, and things are never going to be the same.” You feel the history; you can almost hear the voices of the past.

The stairs to this apartment are such a thing of beauty, almost a waterfall of ancient stone, with a banister of wrought iron curving you toward home. The sound of your modern soles stepping up in chorus of echo will delight you, it has to, they’re your shoes, and you’re in them. Go ahead, pinch yourself.

Now snap out of it because you’re going to want to be alert for what you’re about to see. The main room of “Picasso” is so spacious and airy, so light and the ceilings are soaring, you just may feel faint. That’s ok. We all felt it. The wall tapestry, the curving arms of the chairs, the pattern of the parquet floors, the light pouring in through French windows, this is heady stuff. Behind you, the swirling modern web of the metal railings, played against the chunky wooden beams, how great is that?

The kitchen is so unique, that modern fixture above the table, a crazy tangle of light shining down on your mod eat-in kitchen, while beneath your feet, octagonal ceramic tiles. In Marais however there is the best of everything, you can dine out and have coffee at a local café any day of the week, so it’s quite nice.

The multi-level nature of this space makes it so versatile and fun. Little curved staircases lead you down and away, or up to the tree house mezzanines. The master bedroom is downstairs, with its big comfy bed and clean lines, masculine without being overbearing.

The second bedroom has a little loft above, with another bed, perfect for an extra guest, or just an extra nap! The third bedroom is like a cubby of comfort - big bed, desk and chair, with those beams overhead, it’s snug and wonderful. There’s even a small gym, if you like exercise at home. But get out there and walk, that’s what the French do.
